Week 7: Highways and Byways

Came across the Howard Frankland Bridge spanning Tampa Bay yesterday at high noon and was taken with the undulating causeway, which I usually think of as flat. So I took my hands off the steering wheel and my eyes off the road, got out my camera and shot the picture. Kidding! Tom was driving. Decided to liven up a mostly gray picture and had a little fun in Photoshop with the Glowing Edges filter.

  1. Oh my gosh, Liz, when I began reading your description, I thought “Is she nuts?” and then thank goodness you fessed up and told us Tom was driving. I have never used the glowing edges filter but think it’s pretty cool in this particular situation. It almost looks like light painting. A fun photo!

  2. Liz: Really like this one…the PS glowing edges treatment was perfect!! You have created something wonderful out of a common shot. The “hill” was an integral part to this one. I have been vacationing the past 2 weeks in British Columbia photographing many themes. I am never without the camera attached to me! 3. I’ve not been a fan of that filter but this really works on this photo – what a great idea – I laughed about “method” of taking the photo – for a nano second i thought you were serious too!!!

  4. neat picture! so the causeway was undulating huh? it must have been hard to drive, what with the road moving around and all. one week to go! talk to you soon… xox.
