Week 30: Interpretation of Art

A pond in Lakewood Ranch inspires me and I go there to shoot two or three times a year. It’s a small pond in a commercial area right off Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and I come home with something good every time. This was taken in November, when the Pickerel plants had run their course, and gave a nice contrast to the reflection of the Bur Marigolds in full bloom. I put a dry brush filter on the image to give it my Interpretation of Art as an homage to the Impressionists. Okay. Okay. Monet is rolling in his grave, but I had a good time playing around.

Week 29: Winter Landscape

We are so lucky in Florida that our winter landscape includes diverse shades of green and the soft hues of autumn. Pond plants show off their the rich amber color for the dry season, while the tones are softened by the low winter afternoon sun.

Week 28: Simplicity

Sometimes a few stark blades of grass and some fallen leaves in the right setting illustrate that simplicity can be as beautiful as an elaborate floral bouquet. The reflected blue sky gives depth and interest to this everyday setting along busy Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
